Introducing TagMix: Enhancing Live Music Content

TagMix

There’s an exciting new software solution that’s been making headlines this month.

TagMix is a software solution for live music recording, making it easier to share videos with high quality audio.

Set to cover up to 40 festivals next summer, it’s likely TagMix content will be showing up on your feeds soon, if it hasn’t already.

How it Works

Offering partner services for artists, venues and labels, TagMix allows live performance recordings to be merged with professional audio recordings from the sound desk.

TagMix currently spans across the UK, Europe and the US and has boosted audience engagement by up to 450% for artists.

Andy Dean, the company’s CEO and founder explains, “We were running a festival in Ibiza for emerging talent and recording all the sets for the artists on stage. As the artists performed, we watched everyone in the audience on their phones filming and then posting the most dreadful-sounding videos on social media.”

We thought - ‘there has got to be a solution for this!’ - and imagined combining the audio we were capturing from the mixing desk with the videos being made, and that’s how the idea was born. TagMix was created and we set to work.”

The Results

As reported by IQ Magazine, Creamfields, Isle of Wight, 2000 Trees, El Dorado, The Big Feastival and Lakefest in the UK utilised TagMix and significantly improved their social media results. On average, views and likes were 300% higher than content shared by these festivals, without the help of the software.

The Takeaway

Live recordings are a powerful asset, proving to be particularly popular with audiences at the moment. So TagMix’s offerings have arrived at the perfect time. We envisage many more events and artists utilising TagMix to take their live content to the next level.

The Headlines

YouTube’s AI-Generated Art

YouTube Music‘s experimental tool is using AI to generate customised playlist art for users.

Sharing the announcement, YouTube Music said, “The guided experience allows users to effortlessly explore from a range of visual themes and options to create one-of-a-kind cover art that expresses the uniqueness of your personal playlists. Struggling to find the perfect artwork for your 90’s R&B-inspired morning commute playlist? Don’t worry, we got you. Stay tuned for expansion to other regions and languages globally.”

💡Insight - BRB, we’re just logging in to YouTube Music to see our AI playlist art. This is an exciting way to offer users a more personalised listening experience on the platform.

TikTok’s Live Event

For the first time ever, TikTok is selling tickets to a live global music event called “In The Mix”. The platform is partnering with Tickets.com, to launch pre-sale tickets on October 27 and general sale tickets on November 2.

The event will be held in Arizona on December 10 and its lineup boasts names like Cardi B, Niall Horan, Anitta, and Charlie Puth. Surprise guests and TikTok Elevate artists Kaliii, Isabel Larosa, Sam Barber and Lu Kala are also set to make appearances.

💡Insight - TikTok has been becoming more and more involved with live music as time goes on, so there’s no surprises that they’re launching their own ticketed event. After the platform’s increasing involvement in live music, we’re looking forward to seeing what TikTok’s own take on a live event looks like, and any surprises that might come with it.

Spotify’s Royalty Model Updates

Spotify allegedly has some major changes planned for their royalty model, Music Business Worldwide reports.

One of the updates includes the introduction of a minimum annual stream threshold that artists must pass before they can generate royalties.

Spotify is also looking to penalise distributors if the fraudulent activity is detected on the music music they share.

Finally, they plan to introduce a minimum length of time for non-music ‘noise’ uploads must reach to generate royalties.

💡Insight - Spotify has certainly ruffled some feathers here. Like many others, we’re awaiting the reveal of the magic number of streams artists must surpass to generate royalties. Then, we’ll have a better understanding of the scale of its impact.

Unfortunately, it’s already not looking promising, with the update ultimately making it harder for artists to generate an income through their music.
